The Champions Indoor Football league board of directors has officially terminated the Dallas Marshals membership within the CIF as a result of the Marshals failure to meet their contractual obligations. The remaining road games for the Marshals 2018 season will be played by the Texas Power who have already played several preseason and exhibition games against CIF opponents. The Power will face the Amarillo Venom on May 19th and the Quad Cities Steamwheelers on June 9th. The remaining Marshals games will result in a forfeit win for the opposing teams.
The CIF board of directors has also changed the playoff format for the 2018 season. The top three seeds from the northern and southern conferences will each clinch playoffs births with the conference champions receiving the number one and number two overall seeds. The remaining two seeds will be awarded to the best overall record of the remaining teams for a total of eight teams qualifying for the playoffs.
The Champions Indoor Football league is still finalizing additional expansion teams for the 2019 season that will be joining the leagues Midwest footprint. There will more announcements of these new teams made in the next couple of weeks. Visit the CIF website at www.gocif.net for more information.
