Albuquerque, N.M. – The Duke City Gladiators are proud to say that one of their own has moved up to the next level. Wide Receiver Larry Cobb is getting his chance with the Edmonton Eskimos in the Canadian Football League (CFL).

Cobb has been a key asset for the Gladiators in this season’s quest for a championship bid as he currently holds top statistics in the CIF (Champions Indoor Football League) as well as on the team.

For the 2017 season, Cobb has 11 touchdown receptions on 22 passes for a total of 341 yards in 6 games. He ranks 1st in the Southern Division of the CIF in average yards per game with 15.9 and 3rd in touchdowns.

Cobb received an invite for a player tryout during the bye weeks and an extended invitation to Edmonton’s minicamp. After an outstanding performance at the camp on May 22nd, he was given a contract to attend the upcoming training camp for the Eskimos where their pre-season starts Sunday June 11th, 2017.

The 6’ 5”, 205 lb. receiver out of Tuskegee University had been working hard to get to the next level and expressed his appreciation for being a part of the Gladiators.

When asked about what he is going to miss most about being a part of the Duke City organization Cobb said, “The Gladiators have been the most unselfish team I’ve ever been a part of and I’m going to miss it the most.”

Cobb was a local favorite in the community of Albuquerque with his high flying grabs and incredible speed. After each home game, fans would line up to snap a photo and grab an autograph from him.

Head Coach Dominic Bramante expressed his excitement and stated, “Larry is one of the most genuine players I’ve had the pleasure of coaching and will do exceptional at the next level. We will miss him!”

The Gladiator organization wishes Larry Cobb all the best in training camp and beyond.

Duke City (4-3) continues their journey on Saturday May 6th at 6:05 pm mountain time against the Amarillo Venom (6-1) where they faceoff for the third time this season. Fans can watch the online stream at DukeCityGladiators.com or listen to the radio play by play at FamousHipHopRadio.com.
